To register for any of the wrestling classes you see in the McKinney Parks Recreation Activity Guide, you may:

Call one of the Recreation Centers and register over the phone.     
    Community Center – 972-547-2690
    Old Settlers Recreation Center – 972-542-5014
    Senior Recreation Center - 972-547-7491

Visit one of the Recreation Centers during operational hours.

Go to the web page at www.mckinneytexas.org and register at the Parks,Recreation and Open Space page online.

Waitlists are automatically created when we have more registrations for a program than we have space.  Your receipt will indicate if you are registered for a program or have been place on the waiting list.

Requirements

All new wrestlers must provide a copy of his/her birth certificate prior to attending any Folkstyle tournaments.  Birth certificates may be obtained at http://www.vitalchek.com/express-birth-certificates.aspx.

A current USAW card is required to participate in any practice or tournament. 

Complete the following forms and bring to first practice: USAW Medical Information and Waiver 

Wrestling head gear.

Wrestling shoes.

Practice shirt and shorts.

Singlet for tournaments. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 Fall/Winter Folkstyle Wrestling Season

  • All boys and girls, ages 4 through middle-school are encouraged to participate.  Wrestlers under age 7 must have a parent present during all practices. 
  • Registration is approximately August – September, or until the maximum number of participants have enrolled, whichever occurs first.  Please see the McKinney Guide for exact dates.
  • The Registration Fee is $30.
  • The Participation Fee is $225.  This includes the USAW card and singlet.  The Participation Fee is due on or before the first practice.  Credit card payments are accepted through the ‘online store’ page.  A check made payable to 'McKinney Mat Rats' or cash is also accepted.
  • The season runs October 19 - mid-March. 
  • Practices are M, T, Th, 6:30 - 8:30 at Old Settlers Recreation Center. 
  • Tournaments are held on Saturdays.  Entry fees are approximately $13.  See 'Schedule' page for more info.

Spring Freestyle/Greco-Roman Wrestling Season      

  • Boys and girls, ages 9 through high-school are encouraged to participate.  Please see the Head Coach with any questions.
  • Registration is approximately January - February, or until the maximum number of participants have enrolled, whichever occurs first.  Please see the McKinney Guide for exact dates.
  • The Registration Fee is $25.  See top of page for how to register with the City of McKinney.
  • The Participation Fee is $75.  This DOES NOT include the USAW card and singlet.  The Participation Fee is due on or before the first practice.  Credit card payments are accepted through the ‘online store’ page.  A check made payable to 'McKinney Mat Rats' or cash is also accepted.
  • The wrestler must have a current USAW card.  This is available in the online store.
  • The wrestler must have a singlet to participate in tournaments.
  • The season runs March 1- May. 
  • First year wrestlers and wrestlers under 10 years: Practices are T and Th, 6:00 - 7:30 at Old Settlers Recreation Center. 
  • Middle School and High School wreslers:  Practices are M, T, Th, 6:30 - 8:30 at Old Settlers Recreation Center. 
  • Tournaments are held on Saturdays, beginning in April.  Tournament entry fees are approximately $12.

Summer Open Mat Practice

  • All wrestlers are encouraged to participate.  Wrestlers under age 7 must have a parent present during all practices. 
  • **Please note, this is not a formally coached practice, rather a time when wrestlers can drill and wrestle at their own pace under a coach’s supervision.
  • Registration is approximately February - May, or until the maximum number of participants have enrolled, whichever occurs first.  Please see the McKinney Guide for exact dates.
  • The Registration Fee is $10.
  • The Participation Fee is $25.  This DOES NOT include the USAW card and singlet.  The Participation Fee is due on or before the first practice.  Credit card payments are accepted through the ‘online store’ page.  A check made payable to 'McKinney Mat Rats' or cash is also accepted.
  • The season runs June - August.  Times TBA.
